Ketika di depan umum, ia menambahkan pakaiannya dengan semacam jubah putih keperakan dan berkerudung menutup kepala.

Under a new identity, he began work as a coating mechanic. He first encounters the Straw Hat Pirates who were protecting Hatchan from a World Noble. When the World Government Marines begin hunting the pirates, Rayleigh shelters Hatchan while the Thousand Sunny is being coated for travel to Fishman Island. Rayleigh also protects Zoro from Kizaru's fatal blow.
