Kitchener, Ontario is a city in western Ontario. It is the largest city in the Region of Waterloo. The city of Waterloo borders Kitchener in the north and the city of Cambridge is on the southern border. The Grand River and the township of Woolwich is along the eastern border and the township of Wimot is along the western side. Kitchener is home to the Kitchener-Waterloo Oktoberfest which is the largest bavarian festival outside of Germany. His boyhood home, at the Woodside National Historic Park, has been restored to reflect life during his time there. Doon Pioneer Village, located in the southern part of Kitchener (Doon), is a living history museum which recreates life in rural Waterloo County during the year 1914. It has more than 25 buildings on more than 24 hectares (60 acres), next to Homer Watson Park. The museum is owned and operated by the Region of Waterloo. THEMUSEUM, formerly the Waterloo Regional Children's Museum, is located in downtown Kitchener offers a range of interactive exhibits.
