- Stheno was born, along with her two sisters, to Phorcys and Keto, deities of the sea, in caverns beneath Mount Olympus, the home of the Olympians. Stheno and her sisters were not born Gorgons. Poseidon had raped Medusa in the temple of Athena, which made Athena jealous because she was a virgin goddess. Athena turned Medousa into a Gorgon and Stheno and Euryale, who were with Medousa, also got transformed into Gorgons.
- Stheno is a Snakes Archvillain as well as their leader. Villains face her in the Raid Snake Temple mission from Operative Grillo. (Levels 45-50)

Later, reports that Donna Diana posits that perhaps the Purple Ray can undo the damage Stheno in Carl.

- In Greek mythology, Stheno was the eldest of the Gorgons, a trio of sisters with serpents for hair and other deathly attributes. She was the sister of Medusa and Euryale. Although she and Stheno could not turn living beings to stone with their gaze like her sister Medusa, Stheno and Euryale were immortal while Medusa was just mortal.

- First sister to the Medusa, the Stheno shares one distinct difference with its sibling. Rather than drawing its sustenance from the nutrient rich flesh of living matter, the Stheno feeds upon the ionic nutrients most commonly found in metal ores. Its toxin, though extremely harmful to the living, just like the Medusa's, has a property which allows it to paralyze metallic ions, much like a freezing effect metals go through when introduced to extreme, sub-zero temperatures. While a single Stheno poses a threat to any tiny spacecraft, swarms of these parasites have been known to latch onto outposts, buildings, and even entire starbases, neutralizing their offensive capabilities in a matter of moments, and leaving them defenseless for the feast.
