Cuando regresa se transforma en un habitante de este planeta de un aspecto mas bien raro e casi invisible y es salvado por la intervención de su antigua compañera Susana y la doctora Crusher. Es transferido a la sala de maquinas en 2364 y es promovido a jefe de ingenieros en el año siguiente con el titulo de Teniente. A pesar de ser un gran ingeniero tiene dificultades para entablar relaciones con el sexo opuesto, por esto, se enamora de un personaje de una recreación de la holocubierta, la doctora Leah Brahms, a quien usaba para reparar un defecto de los motores ya que esta fue una de las constructoras del Enterprise. Esta al enterarse monta en cólera porque pensaba que eso era una invasión a su privacidad no permitiendo que esto volviera a suceder. La doctora estaba realmente casada lo que provoco que Geordi siguiera con su timidez. A pesar de esto en una realidad del Anti-tiempo futuro creada por Q, Geordi se casa con la doctora y tiene tres hijos, Alandra, Brett y Sydney. Es nombrado teniente Comandante alrededor de 2366. Por su increíble visor es candidato a usar una interfaz experimental. La usan en 2370 para rescatar al USS Raman. Durante este rescate parece que ve a su madre ya muerta en la nave y esta convencido que ella esta atrapada en algún vacío interdimensional. LaForge más tarde realiza la experiencia de tratar de rescatar a su madre, pero no logra hacerlo y le dice adiós para siempre, cosa que no había podido hacer anteriormente. It attached at the temples via implants which connected directly to the brain and provided such a complex and broad-based input that the user had to concentrate to focus on one area. It was perhaps this intense focusing ability that has enabled him to master the complexities of warp engineering and other starship systems. Since mid-2371, however, ongoing miniaturization and cybernetic technology have allowed La Forge to begin using ocular implants, which employ complex sensors and filters all with the confines of an artificial eye. La Forge did not yet have a VISOR at the time of his major childhood trauma: a fire which trapped him for two minutes until he was pulled to safety. The incident left him with the longtime need to be reassured of his parents' proximity — a feeling only exacerbated with the Starfleet couple often being posted in separate places, requiring La Forge and his sister Ariana to move constantly during childhood. He was living at home, however, when he left for Starfleet Academy after graduating from Zefram Cochrane High School, coincidentally named for one of his heroes. He did have a pet Circassian cat at age 8. His mother died in 2370 as captain of the lost U.S.S. Hera, but in grief he disobeyed Picard and nearly died to save what he thought was her — an image created from his own memory by aliens seeking rescue. The incident occurred as he tested a unique remote-control system for a self-propelled robot drone interfaced with his own VISOR and neural system. As an ensign he served under Captain Zimbata on the U.S.S. Victory, where a parasite picked up on an away mission to Tarchannen IV in 2362 nearly led to his transformation five years later into a non-sentient species. Only his close friendship and trust with former crewmate Susanna Leitjen saved him. La Forge first met Captain Jean-Luc Picard sometime before their Enterprise tour, when he impressed his superior officer so much with his all-night refit of a shuttle engine after an off-hand comment by Picard during an inspection tour. Although he has been best friends with Data since they met aboard ship, he has actually known Commander William Riker longer — at least since Farpoint Station, awaiting their new ship's arrival. La Forge's irreverence has been tempered somewhat with his added responsibilities, but his sense of humor remains strong. His faith in technology and his ability to master it, normally an inspiration to those around him, was shaken slightly with the 2370 discovery that warp drive can harm the fabric of some spatial areas. In his personal life, La Forge is plagued by a slight insecurity regarding dating and female relationships, although this has lessened with time; significant relationship in this regard included Christy Henshaw, Lt. Aquiel Uhnari, and a passing attraction to Dr. Leah Brahms, begun as a reconstructed holo-program. He served as best man for Miles O'Brien at his wedding to Keiko, and allowed Dr. Crusher to coax him into singing a role in her shipboard troupe's upcoming performance of "The Pirates of Penzance." He too enjoyed the senior officers' weekly poker game, and even though his artificial "eyes" have allowed him to detect bluffing and see opponents' cards in the ultraviolet spectrum he never "peeked" until a hand was over. Other hobbies are scale model building of old sailing ships, chess, swimming, skin-diving, and the history of his profession: during the Cochran project he recalled the Phoenix test vehicle's intermix chamber from memory. He holds his own in fencing, but writing and mandolin playing are not strong suits, despite a preference for guitar music. Food favorites include iced coffee and pasta dishes such as fungilli. - Geordi LaForge was a secondary hero in Star Trek:The Next Generation and subsequent Star Trek movies based on the series. He was a noted Starfleet officer who served on the USS Enterprise (NCC-1701-D) and Enterprise (NCC-1701-E). Blind from birth LaForge received surgical implants and a VISOR that enabled him to see. He received his first visor around the age of five. Despite the pain and the distortion inherent with his VISOR LaForge was able to lead a normal life - one of the few people able to do so. He learned pain suppression techniques from a Vulcan healer. Following in the footsteps of his Starfleet officer parents he entered Starfleet Academy. Graduating from the academy he became an officer in the 2350s. In 2364 Lieutenant Junior Grade LaForge was assigned to the newly launched Enterprise-D, under the command of Captain Jean-Luc Picard. For his first year on the ship he served mainly as a conn officer and assisted other departments such as security when required. He quickly became friends with Lieutenant Commander Data during this time. He also began serving as a mentor to Wesley Crusher as he took his first initial steps towards a career in Starfleet. The following year he was promoted to full Lieutenant and became Chief Engineer of the Enterprise. LaForge was a regular participant in the senior officer poker games. Depending on the kind of cards used his VISOR enabled him to see the cards others had, but he never peeked until after the hand had been played. In 2368 LaForge was captured by Romulans who attempted to use his optic implants to brainwash him into making it appear that the Federation was supporting rebels against the Klingon Empire and to attempt an assassination of a anti-Federation Klingon governor. Fortunately this was detected by Data and LaForge was stopped by Worf from killing the governor and destroying the alliance. LaForge met Montgomery Scott in 2369 after Scotty was rescued from a static transporter buffer. After some initial bumps the two men became friends and managed to rescue the Enterprise-D after she had become trapped in a Dyson Sphere. In 2371 LaForge was captured by Tolian Soran. Soran modified LaForge's visor so that it would transmit images back to the Klingon ship commanded by the Duras sisters. When LaForge went to engineering he glanced at a display that had the ship's shield modulation frequency. The sisters were able to adjust their weapons to match that frequency and were able to inflict massive damage on the Enterprise. Though the Duras sisters died when their ship was destroyed the Enterprise was still lost - the drive section exploded due to a core overload and the saucer crashed on Veridian III. With the launch of the Enterprise-E LaForge was assigned as chief engineer. Shortly after the launch of the Enterprise LaForge was given a choice by Admiral Hayes - either replace the VISOR with something less prone to tampering or be reassigned to a less sensitive posting. LaForge did not want to comply with this forced medical treatment, a position supported by Captain Picard and Doctor Crusher. However after learning more about the new bio-neural ocular implants, including the better visual range and closer approximation of real vision he decided to go ahead with the surgery. He was given the option to have the implants made to look like natural eyes, but he declined that option. In 2373 LaForge was on the Enterprise when they traveled back to 2063 to stop the Borg from interfering with the first contact between Earth and Vulcan. As such he met and worked with Dr. Zefram Cochrane, and accompanied him along with Commander Riker as Cochrane made the first successful warp jump by a human. This was detected by a Vulcan ship and first contact proceeded as planned. When the Enterprise arrived at the Ba'ku planet to investigate an incident with Data, the metaphasic radiation present caused LaForge to be able to see through real eyes for the first time in his life. He beamed down to the surface of Ba'ku and got to fulfill a lifelong dream in that he was able to see a sunrise with normal vision. In 2379 LaForge helped Data make his way on to the Reman ship Scimitar to rescue Captain Picard. Data was able to save his shipmates and ultimately Earth with the self sacrificial act of destroying the Reman superweapon. In the novel timeline LaForge was given command of the Galaxy class starship Challenger after Captain Montgomery Scott's health required him to relinquish command. After the Challenger was destroyed LaForge returned to the the Enterprise and resumed his post as Chief Engineer. With the Star Trek: Online timeline LaForge took an extended leave of absence from Starfleet. Working with the Daystrom institute he helped revive Commander Data in the body of brother android B4, who sacrificed his own personality to allow Data to return. LaForge later assisted Spock in his mission to save the Romulans from the effects of the Hoborus Supernova. In a future alternate timeline LaForge was promoted to the rank of Captain and was the commanding officer of the Galaxy class starship Challenger. In an anti-time future timeline created by Q LaForge had retired from Starfleet by the 2390s, married, and was a successful author. He died helping his former Captain save humanity from the effects of a temporal disruption. This second timeline was erased from history when Picard succeeded in closing the disruption.
