- Buggy the Clown (道化のバギー, Douke no Buggy) is a long time acquaintance of Luffy's idol, Shanks, as they both served on the same boat during the early years of their pirate lives. When their crew found the Barabara Devil Fruit and a treasure map, Buggy intended to feign eating the fruit so he could sell it later for personal profit. As he devoured a fake and hid the real fruit in his mouth, Shanks startled him and caused him to swallow the Devil Fruit. The incident soured his impressions of Shanks after they went their separate ways. Similar to Luffy, Buggy's dream is to one day become the Pirate King with a mountain of treasure.
- Buggy the Clown (道化のバギー, Dōke no Bagī) is a clown pirate captain and one of the first major villains in the anime/manga, One Piece. He was the captain of the Buggy Pirates, whose members look like circus performers (excluding Alvida, a former pirate captain who joined Buggy's crew seeking mutual revenge on the series protagonists, Monkey D. Luffy). However, said crew abandoned him after he was arrested and sent to Impel Down, the most impenetrable prison in the One Piece world, and tearfully gave up on and hope of rescuing him.
- Buggy the Clown was initially the first real pirate that Luffy encountered early on in his travels. Buggy is a rather gaudy individual who used to be on the legendary Roger Pirates crew, along with Luffy's idol Shanks, who Buggy eventually bore a grudge against for unwittingly foiling a scheme to find a legendary treasure. After Gold Roger's death, the two went their separate ways, and while Shanks went on to become one of the Four Emperors, Buggy hung around the relatively tame East Blue. After the Time skip, Buggy has become a Warlord of the Sea. He has a former bounty of 15,000,000 Berries.
- Buggy the Clown is a pirate captain who loves to plunder from villages and then destroy them using his explosive "buggy balls". He was once a normal human and was on the same ship as Shanks, the one who gave Luffy his hat. It was there that Buggy found a map of treasure that was at the bottom of the ocean. He stole a piece of Devil fruit in an attempt to sell it for money and then find the sunken treasure, but Captain Shankes made him eat the Devil fruit, which destroyed both his plans, for it gave him the inability to swim. However, the Devil fruit also gave Buggy the power to split his body into different parts as well as survive even if somebody chops him to pieces.
