  • Aristotle was one of the foremost philosophers of Ancient Greece, in addition to being the apprentice of Plato and the tutor of Alexander the Great. Aristotle departed from Plato's philosophy in many important ways, he is seen as a forerunner to science. Aristotle believed the sun went around the earth which is called the Geocentric theory. Still there wasn't better information during Aristotle's time. A different Ancient Greek philosopher called Aristarchus of Samos who lived just slightly later first proposed the Heliocentric theory, that the Earth orbits the sun.
