The Tenebrae Imperium is an secretive nation located Western European, occupying all of the Iberian Peninsula. The empire was founded in 1954, following the murder of Francisco Franco by Samson P. Skulow, a former British officer living in exile in Spain. He molded the nation in an advanced state, closed off from the influences of the outside world, and building a new culture tailor made for easily controlling the new empire. Tenebrae shares a border with France and Euskadi to the north. Skulow continued Franco's policy of a closed economy, doing well to build up the strength of the economy, and succeding somewhat in developing a true autarky.

Known worldwide for being a surprisingly advanced nation in terms of technology, Tenebrae has been accused reverse-enginnering alien technology, and not sharing any of it with the world. Tenebrae has denied this accussations, but has not alluded to whether or not alien technology was directly or indirectly involved in the hasty technological progression of the empire. Most of the nation has been urbanized, and to prevent unwanted guests, the nation has a series of military installations that dot the borders to the north, and coastal batteries along the entirety of the nation's coastline. Tenebrae follows a strict policy of isolation, and is a member of no known alliances or trade agreements. When the new government took over in the 1950s, it anulled all of old Spain's treaties, and pulled out of the European Union. Today, the on-goings within Tenebrae are little known to the outside world.
