| - Gargamel the Wizard (Also known as Gargamel Junior, Gargy, and Ugly Old Guy) is famously known as the smurfs' archenemy. However he is actually the unsung hero of the smurfs.

- Gargamel is an evil wizard of debatable skill who acts as the main antagonist of the Smurfs cartoon and written-fiction. His main goal in life is to capture the Smurfs, the reasons varying from story to story but in general so as to either eat them or use them as ingredients in one of his potions.

- Gargamel first appears in The Smurfnapper segement of the Black Smurfs Comic Album. He hatches a plan to create disunion among the Smurfs by introduction of a female to the population, and thus, he creates Smurfette, however his plan goes ary. The Smurfs do not find her attractive, but pitty her for her appearance, and her attempts at charm are offset by that apperance. Eventually the Smurfette tries to destroy the village only to fail, and thus, broken by the pitty she's been shown, requests that Papa Smurf make her a smurf, which he does with Plastic Surgery, and teaching her the ways of a Smurf.
