Valery Baranov () Born on November 16, 1948 in Orenburg region. He graduated from the Kazan' tank college (1970), the academy armored troops (1978), the academy of General Staff (1988), the academy of civil service with the President RF (1998). Baranov served as the deputy commander-in-chief of Moscow military district forces on the combat training and as the deputy commander-in-chief of forces North-Caucasian military district from July 2000 to October 2001. He commanded the united group of the troops in the North-Caucasian region since August 2002.
