During Day 9, President James Heller chose to address members of Parliament in session in order to assuage their anger over the friendly fire incident in Afghanistan. Despite a rough start, Heller managed to shore up support for their two countries' ongoing war on terror and the U.S.'s drone program. Immediately afterward, Heller and his advisers were forced to deal with a hostage situation at the U.S. Embassy, where Jack Bauer was attempting to find proof that the earlier drone attack had been a deliberate terrorist action. • Not to be confused with any other Houses: Parliament is composed of "parl" - a type of knitting and "I am ent" (a person evolved from a tree). This describes the woolly and wooden speaking of the inhabitants, known as members. These houses are noted for their extreme lack of interior decorating style, so horrid, in fact, that gay people have been known to enter into seizures upon the sight of the Houses of Parliament. It is also commonly known that anyone who survives entry into these houses instantly gets transformed into a rather boring old gentleman whose taste is worse than their speeches. As a result, traditionally the building is not populated by human beings but instead with cardboard cutouts in a vaguely humanoid shape. In more recent times, the interior of the Houses of Parliament was changed in an attempt to keep the decor fresh and modern. The most recent change has been to rip out the cardboard cutouts of the ministers and replace them with real ministers who plan to actually serve some kind of purpose in the House. However, this initiative got off to a shaky start when it became apparent that the traditional cardboard cutouts actually got more done than the real ministers. Combined with the appalling crimes against fashion committed by the human ministers, and the deleterious effects this had on the aesthetics and decor of Parliament as a whole, a new initiative has been announced. This new initiative will see the whole building to be knocked down and an animal rescue centre built on the site. The underlying concept here is that if another whale ever gets stuck in the Thames, they could roll it into the animal rescue centre who would look after it. This is in marked contrast to the traditional "eating of the whale ceremony" that was held last time this happened in 2004, although rumour has it that it was actually John Prescott who had been stuck in the Thames and not a marine mammal.

("Day 9: 1:00pm-2:00pm", "2:00pm-3:00pm") Soon afterward, Bauer's warnings were proven accurate when Margot Al-Harazi threatened to attack government and civilian targets in London unless Heller was turned over to her, with the Houses of Parliament selected as one of her potential targets. Having traced Winters' distress call, Sontarans and Rutans fought with one another inside Parliament while searching for these weapons, but were forced into ceasefire when the Doctor reprogrammed one of weapons to target the Rutans, risking one of the two species to kill their own kind. The Doctor returned Parliament to its rightful place and Fawkes was caught by the king's men before he could light the remaining 36 gunpowder barrels. (GAME: The Gunpowder Plot) The days 2-14 September 1752 were "lost" with the conversion from the Julian calendar to the Gregorian calendar. The London existence of that period was purchased from George II by Grandfather Paradox on behalf of Faction Paradox in the Gregorian Compact, and became their heartland known as the Eleven-Day Empire. The Empire was governed from the chamber of the House of Commons; the speaker's chair was empty, waiting for Grandfather Paradox's return. (PROSE: Interference - Book One) In 1964, there were less than a dozen women serving in either House of Parliament. (AUDIO: Manhunt) In the early morning of 1 January 2005, the newly regenerated Eleventh Doctor flew west over the Houses of Parliament whilst clinging by his fingers from his TARDIS' doorway. He narrowly escaped ramming the clock tower, before climbing back aboard and being thrown nearly nine years back in time. (TV: The Eleventh Hour) In 2009, in an alternate timeline created by Sarah Jane's actions in 1951 in which the world was destroyed, Luke, Sarah and the Trickster stood at the remains of the Houses of Parliament. (TV: The Temptation of Sarah Jane Smith) In 2014, a Kharitite broke into the building to feast on the negative emotions released during Prime Minister's Questions. (COMIC: After Life) Parliament was an early target of the Daleks in the 2157 invasion; the politicians were rounded up and exterminated in Parliament Square. (PROSE: Alien Bodies) Westminster still standing circa 2167, with Daleks patrolling the adjacent Westminster Bridge. (TV: The Dalek Invasion of Earth) For decades after the liberation of Earth, parliament didn't exist and Britain was split into "domains"; in 2199, the Houses were still being restored.
