A few believed that the Blight was a sign of the return of the neruki, powerful beings from Zhell mythology that were supposedly imprisoned within netherspace by the gods. In one Zhell text, it was foretold that one day, the neruki would break free from their prison and wreak havoc. They hoped that the Zhell gods would come to stop the Blight, but they never did. Among the races that did survive was the Omwati. Their religious leaders believed that it was then time for them to dominate the galaxy as humans had for thousand of years prior.
