In February 2009, a five year old Mexican boy became infected with a hybrid swine flu virus from a pig farm. The infection spread throughout Mexico and appeared in April, infecting hundreds of people in Mexico City. By the end of April thousands were infected in Mexico and the virus spread to the United States and Cascadia. It quickly spread to New Zealand, France, Spain, Israel, Canada, New Germany and the United Kingdom and then on to many more nations. The virus has officially killed almost 400 and infected 89,000 worldwide.
