  • Captain Blue is a recurring character in the Viewtiful Joe series. • Captain Blue is the code name that the Spectrum Organisation has assigned to Adam Svenson, the former Inspector General of the World Aeronautical Society's United States chapter and the oldest son of a wealthy Boston, Massachusetts, financier. Sculptor Terrence "Terry" Curtis, a member of the team that sculpted the super-marionation puppets Captain Scarlet And The Mysterons used, gave the Captain Blue puppet a physiognomy that resembled a cross between his own self-portrait in wood and that of George Victor "Edward" Bishop, the actor who provided the character's voice in the programme.
  • Originally known as Director Blue, the father of Silvia, he was renowned for directing superhero movies, especially those of Captain Blue. Eventually the fans moved on and Captain Blue was forgotten, though Director Blue was inexplicably drawn to Movieland to have a chance at being a hero. However, in the process, Blue began to forget all about his family, and, in time, succumbed to the growing darkness in his soul, wanting revenge on the audience that spurned him.
  • To date, Blue has been responsible for three attacks on rival teams wishing to take advantage of the chaos caused by Doctor Robotnik's return. The first involved the group using an electromagnetic pulse on a group of Badniks near a stock exchange. Blue's group then returned during a peace rally, attacking people with tear gas after they suggested talks with Robotnik. Finally, Blue personally attacked the Brain Drain Society, shooting and seriously injuring leader General Url.

Blue considers the League of Super-Evil Villains to be the "enemy" and the Freedom Fighters to be "friends". He was later absent during Gold's showdown with the Freedom Fighters and Fockewulf de Shrike. Blue returned to lead a S.P.E.A.R. operation to capture "traitors" Doctor Genius and Windy Wallis inside Metropolis University. He showed unease at Gold's plan to pump nerve gas into the university, so reluctantly allowed the Freedom Fighters to help. Later, he thanked Amy Rose for her co-operation, even going as far as to flirt with her. Captain Blue later created more controversy when he ordered S.P.E.A.R. to target former villain Loot, now a window cleaner, for creeping around people's windows. Blue remained unapologetic when confronted by the press, simply retorting that "he looked suspicious". As time went by, Blue began to feel uneasy about what was happening behind the scenes. He helped to oversee Camp Glory alongside Gold and Sergeant Bushfire but noticed that Gold was starting to show a markedly more suspicious side away from the cameras. Having discovered that Amy had infiltrated the base in the guise of "April May", he requested that if she were to find any information on Gold, she would share it with him. However, he insisted he wouldn't be able to support her if she made a move against the leader.

In order to do so, he kidnaps Silvia to use as a sacrifice, and posing as a good guy, gives Joe his V-Watch. After being defeated, he comes to his senses, reunites with Silvia, and returns to being a director and actor in subsequent games.
