The Final Test was developed by the founding Jedi High Council of the Reformed Jedi Order as a method of ensuring that only the best of the best advanced to the Knighting Ceremony. If a student failed the Final Test they were allowed to try again. However; if the student displayed any anger or overly aggressive behavior during the duel the student in question would have to undergo a trial by the Jedi Council to determine whether or not they would be allowed to retake the Final Test.
