Nigel Bates was a character in EastEnders from Episode 744 (24th March 1992) to Episode 1608 (30th April 1998). He was a good friend of Phil and Grant Mitchell. Nigel ran the video shop on Turpin Road and was eleganty dressed but also was a bit of a buffoon. He once staged a robbery to claim on insurance. He married Debbie Tyler in July 1994 but she was tragically killed in a car accident in June 1995. Nigel moved to Scotland in March 1998 and has not been seen since but is in regular contact with Dot Branning. Nigel was played by Paul Bradley.
