abstract
  • The Silver Pantaloons are one of three sets of metallic pantaloons scattered throughout the Baldur's Gate trilogy. They serve as easter eggs, but if all three are gathered across the three games, they can be turned into the Big Metal Unit near the end of Baldur's Gate II: Throne of Bhaal. If a player collects the Golden Pantaloons in Baldur's Gate (game), followed by the Silver Pantaloons in Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn and the Bronze Pantalettes from Baldur's Gate II: Throne of Bhaal, then the three may be taken to Kerrick the Smith in Amkethran, where he will turn them into the Big Metal Unit. The item is one of the harder to obtain. The Silver Pantaloons may be acquired during the Find the kidnappers who buried Tirdir quest in Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn. The quest eventually takes the party to the Kidnappers' House in Bridge District. There, on the second floor Lady Elgea is apprehended. Upon meeting the party she will initiate dialogue and demand to be set free. This meeting triggers Welther and the Silver Pantaloons to appear in front of the Copper Coronet in the Athkatla Slums. The player is presented with 3 options: * To set Lady Elgea free - this will end the quest but make the pantaloons unobtainable. The party gains reputation for taking this route. * To tell Lady Elgea that you are undecided, end dialogue, grab the Ransom Note from the nearby chest and collect the ransom yourself. To do this one must go to the Slums at night, look for Welther and give him the note. Doing so grants a -2 penalty to reputation. * To tell Lady Elgea that you are undecided, end dialogue, grab the Ransom Note from the nearby chest. Then go to the Slums at night, look for Welther and pickpocket him for the pantaloons. The party can then go back to Elgea and let her go without a penalty to reputation. * If Keldorn Firecam is in the party, he will let Lady Elgea go no matter which dialogue option Gorion's Ward uses. This makes the pantaloons unobtainable.
