Ascension Day is held on the fortieth day after Easter, a chronology that follows the Acts of Apostles. It states that Jesus met with his disciples over a forty-day period before being taken up to Heaven in their sight. His parting words were a command to stay in Jerusalem until they receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. Ascension Day begins a ten-day period of prayer for the gift of the Spirit, in preparation for Pentecost.

  • A Dragaeran Holy Day. This holiday is apparently celebrated not only in the Dragaeran Empire, but in the Eastern Kingdoms as well (most notably, Fenario). The celebration of this holiday involves fireworks that light up the sky. See also Meta:Ascension Day. This article is a stub. You can help the Lyorn Records by adding to it.
  • Much like the god to whom it is dedicated, Ascension Day is generally celebrated in a very informal style. Occurring annually on 11 Kuthona, it commemorates the day Cayden Cailean passed the Test of the Starstone and ascended to godhood in 2765 AR. In all likelihood, the 11th of Kuthona is not the exact date on which it actually happened, but since the god was dead drunk when it happened, it will probably be never known. Celebrating Ascension Day generally involves toasting one another with a hot alcoholic beverage, thanking the Drunken Hero for what he has provided, and eating plenty of sweet pastries.
  • Ascension Day was a day referred by the Necromongers when the newly created Necromonger Armada departed from Asylum, under the reign of Naphemil. This event then lead to the Ascension Protocol.

In the Eastern Church this feast was known as analepsis, the taking up, and also as the episozomene, the salvation, denoting that by ascending into His glory Christ completed the work of our redemption. The terms used in the West, ascensio and, occasionally, ascensa, signify that Christ was raised up by His own powers. Tradition designates Mount Olivet near Bethany as the place where Christ left the earth. The feast falls on Thursday.
