Inspector Rachel Weston hungered for more action than her previous post in Keele provided. Determined and driven, she knew the Metropolitan Police was the place she needed to be. Already having built a reputation for dedication to the job, and being someone with the winning combination of brains and bravery, she was already on Sun Hill's Superintendent John Heaton’s radar. When a position came up at Sun Hill, Heaton was quick to poach her. And following Gina Gold's unexpected departure, Rachel was the obvious candidate to take her place.

Working in London’s busiest nick was a good career move for Weston and she was fully aware that it was a golden opportunity to prove herself. Weston may have seemed like a head girl, but underneath her commanding exterior was a mischievous streak; there beat the heart of a black sheep. She quickly got off to a flying start, showing all and sundry why Heaton headhunted her for his squad. With her warmth and vulnerability complemented by a strategic mind and the ability to take charge under pressure, Rachel was the complete package. She left Sun Hill after Heaton asked her to join his specialist unit targeting human trafficking.
