Link templates are templates that are pre-made links, so for example, if you use {{u<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>}} then a username in a parameter, it will make the name of the username without the User: part in it. They are made so you don't have to type as much when linking to a page. Note that with each link template if an extra parameter than the manual ones are included it will change the linked text. Please do not over use link templates. An example of using link templates as "laziness templates" is if one includes an additional parameter to change linked text over 10 times on a page; please do use link templates like that, as we have had to remind users not to over use them.
