Pobol y Cwm (People of the Valley) is a Welsh language television soap opera, produced by the BBC and first screened in October 1974. It is the BBC's longest-running TV soap, and is broadcast in Wales on the Welsh language network, S4C. Currently, five 30-minute episodes are broadcast per week, and an omnibus edition is shown on Sundays. The show is set in the fictional village of Cwmderi, located in south west Wales. Most of the village activity centres on the pub, the Deri Arms.
