- Gaia Online is an English-language, anime-themed social networking and forums-based website. It was founded in 2003 as Go-Gaia.com, but the name was changed to GaiaOnline.com in 2004 by its owner, Gaia Interactive. Gaia originally began as an anime linklist and eventually developed a small community, but, following a statement by founder Derek Liu (username "Lanzer"), the website moved towards social gaming, and eventually became a forum-based website. - Gaia Online (formerly known as Go-Gaia) is an online forum and games site founded on February 18, 2003 by Derek Liu (Gaia username: Lanzer), Josh Gainsbrugh (username: L0cke), Long Vo: (username VO) Rosann Yip (username: Ling) and a team of their friends, Studio XD artists, and programmers/web designers. The site currently revolves around its forum , avatars, and in-game currency, but is expanding to include features such as (slots, cards, and fishing), Gaia Towns and homes, and the Marketplace. Note that Gaia Online's forums- most obviously the Guild System- are heavily modified PhpBB software.

Gaia's storyline quickly became one of the distinguishing features of the site. Since the plot's beginnings in 2004, Gaia has had two Zombie Apocalypses, an Alien Invasion, a Vampire Attack, and more No One Could Survive That moments than you can shake a pixelated stick at. It's come a long way since its humble beginnings, going from a simple forum to an enormous multi-faceted community. And with the release of "zOMG!", Gaia will finally make the leap into full fledged MMORPG-dom. Character sheet is here
