"Justinian II" was a Squirt Frog and the Evolving Tadpoles' song about an ancient Emperor of Byzantium who got his nose chopped off. It was a strange, droning chant and Justinian came to a bad end. Justin Nachman, the lead singer, sounded unwholesomely amused by it as he sang the tale. Marshall Ferguson had the song on his iPod and when it played about a year after the Yellowstone Supervolcano erupted, he realized how much he missed his brother who he hadn't seen since before the eruption and who was stuck in icy Maine.
