  • The Phantom Zone is a dimension in the DC Universe where the criminals of Krypton (and generally Superman) were kept.
  • The Phantom Zone is a matterless void. It is another dimension created by Jor-El to contain the galaxy's most terrible criminals. You can be sent to the Phantom Zone with the Phantom Zone Ray, that Superman keeps at the Fortress of Solitude.
  • The Phantom Zone, also known as Ghost Zone, Still Zone, Buffer Zone, Stasis Zone, Honeycomb, Limbo and Hyperspace, is a twisted, twilight dimension used by the people of planet Krypton as a prison for the most dangerous of criminals. Individuals banished to the Phantom Zone existed in a formless state, unable to affect or contact the normal universe — for all intents and purposes, neither dead nor alive. It was featured in the Superman comic books and related media published by DC Comics.
  • Jor-El banishes General Zod, Ursa, and Non to the Phantom Zone for their crimes.
  • The Phantom Zone is a region of space in which time stands still, and from which extremely little escapes.
  • The Phantom Zone is a timeless prison dimension wormhole created by the Kryptonian scientist Jor-El. Before Krypton's destruction, many of the universe's worst criminals from the 28 galaxies were imprisoned and confined to the Zone by Jor-El. Many times, the criminals trapped in there like Gloria, were mass murderers on a grand scale. Some of the prisoners, like General Zod, were stripped of their physical bodies and turned into non-corporeal phantom wraiths.
  • The last was from Krypton, Jor-EL used his probe star to collect data when the probe entered the kind of "wormhole" dimensional, which was still located in the Kryptonian space, the probe created a passage to this place, following back Krypton, through the probe data, Jor-EL created a portal (projector) that used to pass for this dimension linked to the wormhole. Time does not exist in this place, nor matter also, on a rocky, dark place with ruivantes storms of a horror scenario and lifeless. The projector of the Phantom Zone was destroyed by the destruction of Krypton, sealing the arrest of Kryptonian criminals, only in the Fortress of the Solitude, the projector from the Phantom Zone is intact, Argo City and Kandor were the two cities that have adopted the methods of the Phantom Zone aft
  • Another Dimension where a cast can have adventures and epic battles without generally affecting any place outside of this dimension or vice versa (although that possibility might crop up as a multi-part arc). It's a different story for anyone inside of course. This also allows said battles to be Invisible to Normals. The laws of physics may not apply in this space, and characters might have powers they wouldn't normally possess. In video games, this is sometimes the justification for the Amazing Technicolor Battlefield. See also Crystal Prison for a common cage. Examples of Phantom Zone include:
  • A barren wasteland, inhabitants of the Phantom Zone reside in a ghost-like state of existence from which they can observe their original plane of existence but cannot physically interact with it. As a side effect, inhabitants do not age or require sustenance in the Phantom Zone and may develop telepathic abilities that can be used to affect their original plane of existence.
  • Jor-El, in the hours before Krypton's destruction, argued that the Phantom Zone might be used to save the Kryptonian people — that they could be suspended within the Zone until a single individual might travel by starship to a habitable world, and then release the survivors. The Science Council roundly rejected the proposal, objecting to the idea of imprisoning innocent people alongside criminals. Nonetheless, a Phantom Zone projector was sent to Earth with Kal-El when Jor-El used his prototype starship to save his son from Krypton's doom.
