  • John Kay was a student at Hill High.
  • Born on 3 June 1942 in Federal Heights, DCD, he is the first of three children of Italian ophthalmologist Luigi Chegli (1909-1977) and Rioblancoan saleswoman Martha Dunwall (1911-1989); he and his siblings were raised in a conservative Catholic environment and attended Sunday school. At the age of 21, Kay briefly worked as a Sunday school teacher in Denver, before dedicating to politics full-time by joining Rioblancoans for Hope. In 1966, at the Christian convention Hope 4 All '66, he met Lionel Hutts, who would later help him found his party. His initial political experience mainly focused on the DCD, later encompassing the whole country. He was well seen within the party, allowing him to climb the internal ladder up to 1972, when he was promoted Secretary of Rioblancoans for Hope. However, despite he clearly called for unity of the party ahead of the 1976 election, R4H entered a stage of internal conflicts, culminating with Kay and Hutts leaving the party and founding the Dead Center Party, allowing Walter Lexman, Evangelical Lutheran and staunch opposer of Kay, to take over R4H. The first DC congress of 1977, held in Denver, attracted some Conservative politicians and helped the DC reach the national headlines. Initially very active in the party, Kay became more of a figurehead by 1992, months after he participated in a sit-in protest at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science, against the bill that would legalize abortion within three months from conception. He finally stepped down from his position in late 2005 and founded KayCorp, a small company that distributed software aimed at small businesses, later merged with NTC Software to form NTC-KayCorp. He currently resides in Nederland, DCD with his wife Angela.
