Poltergeists are extremely powerful spirits generally locked away in The Veil, who occasionally find their way to our plane. They have never been living beings, though they often disguise themselves as specific people who have died. Most are jealous of the living, and either wish to steal living bodies, or just to kill. Most instances of possession are caused by Poltergeists. They are extremely difficult to effectively banish, very few people can do it without the use of specific tools. They are vulnerable (in order of effectiveness) to the energies of iron, silver, and roses. The term poltergeist, literally meaning noisy ghost, came to refer to these entities due to the physical violence of their manifestations, they tend to possess the living, throw objects, light fires, and so forth.

- Poltergeists are unique spirits which seek attention through sometimes violent and deadly actions.
- Poltergeists were antagonists featured solely in Blood Omen 2, appearing specifically in the 'Limbo' area of the Eternal Prison.[BO2] Poltergeists appeared as a floating ghostly skeletal torso, missing a lower body and with large horns and claws. They appeared only in the 'limbo' area of the Eternal Prison, where once the machinery was activated, the poltergeists materialized as Kain climbed the floating platforms, glowing white until they were defeated[BO2].

Poltergeists were resilient and powerful enemies with a long combo, however they lacked any unblockable or power moves and had comparatively little Blood or Lore. Despite their ghastly appearance, poltergeists were no harder to defeat than any other recurring enemy in Blood Omen 2[BO2]. Neither their origin nor their nature is discussed in the game.
