The Virginia Bureau of Investigation (VBI) was the federal investigative body of the country of Virginia. The agency was primarily responsible for Virginia's national security. While Virginia was a functional republic, the VBI had wide latitude in what actions it could take protect the country, including arresting and imprisoning uncooperative witnesses.
