Matthew "Matt" Martin (born April 30, 1971 in Hamden, Connecticut) is a retired ice hockey defenseman. He played for the Toronto Maple Leafs of the National Hockey League. Martin played for Avon Old Farms from 1988 to 1990 and the University of Maine from 1990 to 1993. He was chosen 66th overall by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the 1989 NHL Entry Draft. Martin played for the United States at the 1997 World Championship and then signed as a free agent with the Dallas Stars in 1998. He never made it back to the NHL and retired in 2003.

He played for the United States at the 1994 Olympics and then joined the Leafs near the end of the season. In 1994-95 he started with the St. John's Maple Leafs but was recalled to Toronto to finish out the season. In 1995-96 he started with the NHL Leafs but suffered an ankle injury. The next season he split between St. John's and Toronto. Martin played for the United States at the 1997 World Championship and then signed as a free agent with the Dallas Stars in 1998. He never made it back to the NHL and retired in 2003. In the NHL (all with the Toronto Maple Leafs) Martin scored 5 assists in 76 games.
