  • Skylab was the first man made US space station. It was launched and put into service on May 14th, 1973 by a Saturn V Rocket. The station was assembled from Saturn V and Apollo components. Skylab's purpose was to serve as a laborarory for scientific experiments in space until 1979. Steve Austin visited Skylab at least twice after becoming bionic. The first visit was as part of "The Rescue of Athena One"; the second visit prevented him from being able to assist Jaime Sommers in stopping Elijah Cooper's doomsday device in "Doomsday Is Tomorrow".
  • The first manned mission to Skylab was Skylab 2. The three astronauts selected for this mission were Conrad (veteran of Apollo 12), Kerwin, and Weitz. In 2063, the assignment patch for the Skylab Program was displayed in the Crash-n-Burn Bar in Bozeman, Montana. (Star Trek: First Contact) Later, in 2143, the patch for Skylab 2 was seen in the 602 Club. (ENT: "First Flight")
  • Space Shuttle ' Skylab was a space station launched and operated by NASA and was the United States' first space station. Skylab orbited Earth from 1973 to 1979, and included a workshop, a solar observatory, and other systems. It was launched unmanned by a modified Saturn V rocket, with a weight of pound (kg), the last launch of a Saturn V rocket. Three manned expeditions to the station, conducted between May 1973 and February 1974 using the Apollo Command/Service Module (CSM) atop the smaller Saturn IB, each delivered a three-astronaut crew. On the last two manned missions, an additional Apollo / Saturn IB stood by ready to rescue the crew in orbit if it was needed.
  • In 1979, the now-abandoned Skylab was used by the Zalphons as their base, but an accident on board caused it to crash back to Earth, the debris falling in Western Australia. The Tenth Doctor, with the assistance of young Harvey, defeated the Zalphons. (PROSE: Bennelong Point) At some point prior to his travels with Rose Tyler, the Doctor helped bring Skylab to Earth. He nearly took off his thumb in doing so. (TV: Tooth and Claw)
