- Skylab was the first man made US space station. It was launched and put into service on May 14th, 1973 by a Saturn V Rocket. The station was assembled from Saturn V and Apollo components. Skylab's purpose was to serve as a laborarory for scientific experiments in space until 1979. Steve Austin visited Skylab at least twice after becoming bionic. The first visit was as part of "The Rescue of Athena One"; the second visit prevented him from being able to assist Jaime Sommers in stopping Elijah Cooper's doomsday device in "Doomsday Is Tomorrow".
