Johann Heinrich Graf von Bernstorff (14 November 1862 – 6 October 1939) was the German ambassador to the United States and Mexico from 1908 to 1917. He was a central figure in wartime espionage and was involved in a number of sabotage acts and plots to hamper the Entente in World War I. After the war, Bernstorff retired to Germany. With the rise of the Nazi Party, Bernstorff left Germany for Switzerland, where he died.
