| - The DAD/M Ion Weapon, fully known as the Designated Anti-Droid/Mechanical Weapon, was the anti-mechanical ion-based configuration of the Advanced IMFW System. It was the most time-consuming variant of the Advanced IMFW System to retool, requiring up to half an hour in the field to construct. All the other weapon variants operated on a laser system, so therefore phase induction components were required to facilitate the reconfiguration of the DAD/M Ion Weapon to fit the ionic emission frequencies of its bolts. The DAD/M Ion Weapon itself was a bulky shoulder-mounted weapon, firing powerful ion blasts of unregulated power at enemy droids, vehicles, or other mechanized targets. While time-costly to construct, even a single DAD/M vested a commando squad with considerable anti-vehicular mobile firepower. On maximum intensity, a sole direct impact near the operating systems of a medium-sized vehicle such as a reconnaissance walker or medium battle tank could temporarily disrupt the functioning of the vehicle, and multiple subsequent hits could permanently and irreversibly ionize even EMP-shielded circuitry on the vehicle. Several DAD/M gunners could easily ambush an unaware Rebel vehicle convoy by waiting for the Rebel vehicles to pass, and then opening up full fire on their rears, immobilizing their vehicles in several salvos, and then allowing stormtrooper explosive specialists to attach limpet charges or thermal mines on the vehicles, completely denying the Rebels the tactical advantages by those several vehicles and allowing for the decimation of several dozen guerrillas and thousands of credits worth of military hardware in under a minute.
