Alex McKendry (born November 21 1956, Midland, Ontario) was a professional player who played 46 games in the National Hockey League. He played with the New York Islanders and Calgary Flames. He went on to win a Stanley Cup with the Islanders in 1980. He had an impressive junior career with the Sudbury Wolves of the OMJHL from 1973-76. McKendry was the Islanders' 1st pick, 14th overall, in the 1976 NHL Amateur Draft. McKendry was never able to establish himself with the Islanders. With Clark Gillies on the team, there was little room for a tough forward with the Islanders.
