- Two posters played a role in the Duke lacrosse case. They are sometimes mistaken for each other. The first poster is sometimes referred to as "the CrimeStoppers poster", since it was produced by Corporal David Addison and offered a cash reward for information leading to an arrest, money to be paid by Durham CrimeStoppers. Two versions of this poster were distributed; the first presumed guilt by stating "The victim was sodomized, raped, assaulted and robbed" without noting that these were uncorroborated allegations by the alleged victim. A copy of the poster is located here in PDF format.

Nichts.

Die letzten Tropfen die aus dem Duschkopf sickerten, landeten auf meiner nassen Kopfhaut. Ich öffnete die gläserne Duschtür und schnappte nach meinen beiden, pinken, weichen Handtücher. Das Eine wickelte ich um meinen Körper und das Andere um meinen Kopf. Ich betrachtete mich im Spiegel. Schick sah dieser Handtuch-Turban aus. Ich grinste breit. Danach drückte ich die silberne Türklinke der Badezimmertür nach unten. Eiskalte Luft kam mir entgegen. Rasch begab ich mich in mein kleines Zimmer. Ich tastete meine Wand ab. Sogleich spürte ich den Lichtschalter, knipste diesen an und mein Blick wanderte umher. Ich weiß nicht wie oft ich mein Zimmer schon betreten habe, jedoch betrachtete ich jedes Mal wenn ich hineinging, den gesamten Raum. Mein Blick blieb an meine Poster, die an der linken Wand hängten, heften. Ich sah mir diese ein wenig genauer an. Es waren Poster von Metal- und Rockbands, die schon seit einiger Zeit dort hingen. Geistesabwesend starrte ich diese Poster an, bis ich von einem lautstarkem Geräusch aus meinen Gedanken gezerrt wurde. Ich schreckte auf. Was war das?! Ich lauschte. Nichts. Das Einzige was zu hören war, war das rhythmische Ticken meines roten Weckers. 22:00 Uhr. So spät schon? Die Zeit war wie im Flug vergangen. Außerdem hatte ich morgen eine sehr wichtige Prüfung vor mir! Ich musste früh ins Bett, sodass ich morgen fit war und gut konzentriert diese Prüfung absolvieren konnte. Ich griff nach meinem himmelblauen Nachthemd, dass ich vor dem Duschen über meine Stuhllehne gelegt habe und zog mich schnell an. Die beiden Tücher warf ich in eine Ecke. Ich holte meinen Föhn den ich in einer Schublade verstaut hatte heraus, steckte ihn ein und begann meine Haare zu trocknen. Als ich damit fertig war, fuhr ich einmal mit meiner Hand durch meine Haare, schaltete das Licht aus und legte mich ins Bett. Ich schloss langsam meine Augen und versuchte krampfhaft einzuschlafen. Doch das Ticken meines Weckers war ohrenbetäubend. Ich konnte nicht schlafen. Ich seufzte. Was nun? Nach einer Weile gewöhnten sich meine Augen an die Dunkelheit und ich konnte einige Umrisse erkennen. Auch meine Poster, die nur noch schwarz wirkten. Schwarze Plakate die an meiner Wand klebten und irgendwie anders zu sein schienen. Ich bemerkte wie ich langsam müde wurde und endlich einschlief. Auf einmal weckte mich ein leiser, quietschender Laut, ähnlich wie der Klang einer alten Tür die geöffnet wird auf. Ich schaute auf meine Poster, die ich von meinem Bett aus sehen konnte und hatte das Gefühl, dass mein Herz stehen geblieben war. Es sah so aus, als würde eine Gestalt in meiner Wand stecken, die mich reglos mit ihrem starren Blick fixierte. Meine Körpertemperatur stieg. Ich schwitze vor Angst. Ich hörte wie mein Herz in meinem Ohr pochte. Ich atmete sehr schwer.
