- Using the test server is possible for all members and characters built on it are not transferable to the live servers, but will stay on the test server beyond content updates until deleted by the player. Gear, r&d plans and cash are provided by special vendors in order for players not having to worry about leveling up their created characters. Usually game updates and new episodes are put on the test server for a while to test the new features and give feedback on the Testing Feedback board in the official DCUO Forums. As of 2016 the test server client can be downloaded at .

- A Test Server is a special Game World launched before major game play updates. Usually, the test server is set to normal PvP combat. Often, strange things can happen during test servers (e.g. Orshabaal in the center of Thais). Since 2005, there are two public test servers:
* Testa, located in Germany,
* Testera, located in the USA.
- Tanki Online's Test Server is a separated server from the game, where new features are usually tested by parts of the community before being released to everyone in the actual game. The experimented features can include stuff like new turrets and hulls, but also entire game mechanisms that have yet to be added to Tanki, such as the mouse-control and the Daily Missions. The servers are mostly not open to the wide public- while access is only permitted to staff members and players with a special invite code by the staff- but from time to time an access is given to everyone, allowing them to create a temporary test account and check the tested features.
- The Test server is where Funcom Puts the latest patches before they go onto the live servers. In order to gain access to the test server you must visit here and get a duplicator [1]. After Duplication you will have to update your copy to the version that test is on. When you arrive on test you will notice that there are several new chat channels, they include:Playfield, Social, Global, Shopping, and Newbie Help. Playfield: This channel is visible by anyone who is in the same playfield as you reguardless of Group Selector Newbie Help:Just Chat into here and people will get you filled in
- The Test server is a special server, which is only activated during the time when there is a new thing that has to be tested before it comes out. Once you log into the server you are automatically given 2,000,000 credits and 200,000 uridium. The last time when the server was activated was to test the Streuners gate. It was out for the 6 October, but also activated some times earlier. To find out more about the new stuff that is going to be released soon click >>HERE<<

* Testa, located in Germany,
* Testera, located in the USA. There was also Brazilera, which was hosted in Brazil shortly before the Tenebra game server existed. It is no longer hosted. It was a public test server that was available for two weeks at the beginning of September 2004. On September 16, 2004 the Brazilian gameworld Tenebra was released. Less than a year later, Tenebra was moved to the United States of America because of connection problems with the Brazilian internet service provider.

* No violations, bans, or holds on their account (within the past 12 months). Any recent violation of the Terms of Use or the Pirates Online Member Agreement automatically prohibits you from access to the Test Server.
* A current e-mail address on file with Pirates Online. Invitations were sent via e-mail. Disney would select new testers from the queue of eligible players who had applied when the need arises, for instance when new features that require more players to be effectively tested are released on the test server.
* It wasn't uncommon to have to wait months, or even a year after applying, before receiving an invitation.
* If you were selected for test access, you used your live server account name to sign in to the test server client. However, you had to start a new pirate that is only usable on the test server. You could not import pirates from the live servers.
* The Test Server closed on August 20th, 2013. Players can no longer access the Test game. File:Calling All Testers.png

When a public testing is done, all created accounts are temporary (unrelated to the accounts with the same usernames in the standard Tanki). Each new player is given the same rank and amount of starter crystals that the developers have determined for the given testing. Whenever the tested features do not include stuff like physics changes or modified hulls/turrets parameters, the game-play is essentially identical to the real Tanki's.
