Growing up at Glittering Bear Keep with his cousin Damiante, thus began his training of a Nillu nobleman. Soon after attaining adulthood, he came under the employ of Warlan Lomasa and his wife, Damiante Nillu, and took over as Steward of the Hawk's Aerie Township. Soon after the tragic death of Warlan Lomasa at the claws of wildlings, Damiante passed Baronship of Hawk's Aerie to Rayk Nillu. In the summer months of 624 ATA, Rayk was accused of being Touched and was subsequently detained by Scourges of the Church of True Light and the Surrector, Tomassa Zahir. Following days of interrogation, the noble was cleared of being Touched but not yet truly 'safe' and was sentenced to a penance of rebuilding the destroyed citadel, Halo, of the Church of True Light in the Shadow District. There he toiled for 2 years, until Zolor Zahir declared himself Emperor, during which the Nillu was freed from his servitude. Following his release from the Shadow District, Rayk disappeared from the public spotlight until recently, often having been seen in the company of the priestess Celeste Mikin and her band of followers from Night's Edge.
