  • For the NES. * Rat Race Lock-Up
  • Track #8 on the NSF is an unused song. Where this song was intended to be used is unknown.
  • Battletoads is a video game released on the NES that was created by Rare and Tradewest in order to compete with the ultra popular Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles video games. It was released on a variety of other, non-Nintendo consoles as well, though was remade for the Game Boy. It is to this day considered one of the most graphically enhanced video games released for the console.
  • Battletoads is a Secret superhuman training program made by the American government in the disguise as a rival of teenage mutant ninja turtles and a kid's game. It is originally a part of America's secret superhuman training program, which involves candidates beating the game in less than 1 death. However, it is accidentally leaked to the public in 1991 where kids accidentally bought it and found it impossible to beat. The cast written in the back of the game box is actually fake in order to prevent the superhuman training program from being leaked to enemies.
  • It is arguably one of the most graphically advanced video games for the NES, at a time when the video game market was turning to Sega Mega Drive/Genesis and Super Nintendo Entertainment System. The distinctive music of the Battletoads series was composed by David Wise.
  • Battletoads is one of the magazines that was stolen by Lisa Cooper at the beginning of the episode Father Figure. Because Lisa's father was living outside of Toronto because of work, she started misbehaving—including shoplifting comics from a news stand outside the Flatiron Building. When chased by the proprietor, she ran away and hid; and, as a result, she was the only witness to a gangland killing. She was kept in police custody for her own protection, and stayed at Nick's loft.
  • The most difficult game ever made. Seriously. In theory, Battletoads looked like a beat-em-up, but the fighting was just a decoy. The game was really made to KILL YOU IN RIDICULOUSLY IMPOSSIBLE HIGH SPEED ONE-HIT KILL AREAS. Battletoads was so hard that the game's testers didn't even bother getting through the whole game with 2 players, and missed an obvious and major glitch that made Level 11 impossible with a second player.

Battletoads is the magnum opus of what Rare believed a game should be about - a difficulty level that can only be described as masochistic. As a joke hilarious only to them, they made the game have limited continues. Luckily for us, Rare eventually decided that games should be playable.

In the story line, two anthropomorphic toads named after skin disorders (Rash and Zitz) have to save their friends Pimple and the Princess Angelica from the Dark Queen, ruler of Planet Ragnarok. The first game was released for the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1991. The backstory of Battletoads, written by Rare employee Guy Miller, was also published in a Nintendo Power comic (Vol. 24 and 25).
