The Exenterator entered the system, along with two Aggressor-class destroyers and the TIE Defenders of the elite 902nd starfighter wing. However, when they reverted, the Sith Star Destroyers didn't open fire, instead simply hanging in space with their shields up. It was, obviously, a trap, as the Interdictor Cruisers and Imperial Star Destroyers were reversing their tractor beams and gravity well projectors to attempt to slam the Exenterator into the yawning chasm of a nearby black hole. When the battlecruiser commander realized the enemy's tactic, and began using full thrust and tractor beams to draw the Exenterator towards the enemy warships, however, it was too late. The pinnacle-shaped battlecruiser clipped the event horizon of a black hole, loosing over a third of the mass of the starship. Yet, the overload of the ion engines of the Exenterator prevented its complete annihilation, and the Mandalorian battlecruiser escaped from the clawing gauntlets of gravity, and opened fire on the Sith fleet. Even though the Galactic Federation fleet was outgunned, the TIE Defenders of the 902nd wing were able to bomb-run the bows of the enemy capital ships, using their proficiency to maul an Imperial Star Destroyer and damage two other Star Destroyers. The Sith retreated, giving the Galactic Federation a rare victory.
