The Soul Catcher was a ghost that imprisoned the souls of children that died in unfortunate accidents and fed on their fear to grow stronger, a la Boogieman. The ghost of a bully named Benny would bully his prisoners as a form of endless torment. One of the Soul Catcher's prisoners, Laurie, managed to escape and told the Ghostbusters about what was going on. Egon mentioned that the Soul Catcher was actually a Barrow Wight and that it gained power from the fear of its prisoners. As a result, the children stopped being afraid of the ghost, which caused him to weaken enough to be trapped by the Ghostbusters. After he was captured, the Soul Catcher's victims were freed.
