When Bryce Miller's flight from O'Hare to LAX diverted to Lincoln, Nebraska after the Yellowstone Supervolcano erupted, it was forced to ditch into Branch Oak Lake. The captain had tried to make an emergency landing in Lincoln but the shock-wave and ash from the eruption hit the aircraft well before he could touch down. This caused the engines to shut down forcing the pilot into an unpowered glide short of the city and into a water landing onto the lake. The control tower notified the local authorities who managed to organize a rescue effort by locals with privately owned powerboats. All passengers were picked up alive before the airplane sank.
