Ben was a CTU Los Angeles IT worker active during Day 2. When an error message popped up on Michelle's computer, she called Carrie Turner to see if she had the same problem. Carrie denied and offered to call Ben to check the connections, but Michelle declined her offer for she didn't have enough clearance, and left the station to ask others for help. Carrie then distracted Kevin who seated next to Michelle by asking him to give a file to Thomkins, and took the chance to redirect Michelle's clearance to her station in order to monitor her activities at Tony's request.
