Orbern was the leader of a minor gang of bandits that preyed on lone travelers in the Mengal Mountains. Contrary to most of the other bandits in his band, bandits who were murderers and the worst of people, he had a compassionate streak, most evident when he sent Yusek away to keep her safe. He claimed to be of nobility in Darujhistan but had been cheated out of his inheritance. Nevertheless, he was the only one who could claim to be educated, since he showed his management skills in organising the bandits. Yusek seemed to have thought very highly of him.
