The Nightwake was a ship in Gabool the Wild's fleet. At one point, it needed careening and recaulking, but after being fixed, it was given to Riptung. He, along with many of the other captains, was charged to hunt down Greypatch and the Darkqueen. They were unsuccessful, and returned to Terramort in time for the final battle there. After Riptung's death, Dandin renamed it after Abbot Bernard. It was dismantled to build a bridge across the ford and construct the Bell Tower in Redwall Abbey.
