Mere-Folk are magical beings that perhaps pre-date even the Stargazers. They reside in the marshes of Deathmoor and are insubstantial beings. Although they cannot be physically hit, they can be frightened off. However, they also are powerful in the ways of the magical essence of the marsh and can empower stalks of bullrushes so that the lightest touch will injure their foes. It seems that the Stargazers learnt how to communicate with these beings. With the use of a magical silver whistle, the user of the whistle is given the ability to talk to the Mere-Folk of the marsh.
