Ricketts has had a long career in dubbing which extends back to at least the 1980s. Outside the Doctor Who universe, he has most recently lent his talents to such productions as Toby Whithouse's Being Human and Stephen Fry's documentary series, Last Chance to See. He has won five Welsh BAFTA awards since 1994. His work on Midnight won not just a Welsh BAFTA, but also a Royal Television Society Award, which he shared with Julian Howarth, Paul McFadden and Paul Jefferies. He has had a particularly long working relationship with Jefferies, with whom he's shared every BAFTA he's won.
