Once the player reaches the Dark Elf and Edward plays his harp, the magnetic field will be lifted, allowing the party to safely equip metallic equipment. All equipment sold in Troia prior to coming to the Lodestone Cavern is meant to be used for traversing the cavern, as none of it is metallic in nature. In the Easy Type version, the Piglet Sword acquired at Baron Castle can safely be used as it's not considered a metallic weapon, making the Lodestone Cavern easier.
