The Walther P38 was the standard side arm of German officers during World War II. It was still in service when the Army of India surrendered in 1947. During the Ceremony, Field Marshal Claude Auchinleck surrendered his Webley revolver to Field Marshal Walther Model, who found that the gun didn't quite fit into his holster, initially designed to fit his own P38. Model was a little jealous that his own side arm wasn't the man-killing brute the British one was.
