Blackthorn City Gym is the location where the Gym Leader Clair resides, who uses Dragon-type Pokémon. Even if defeated, the player doesn't receive her Rising Badge unless he/she goes into the Dragon's Den and does her request. In Generation II, the Gym has two floors. On the upper floor, the player has to use the HM Strength to move boulders to make a bridge on the bottom floor. In Generation IV, there's the shape of a dragon in the lava of the gym that the player has to navigate.
