As a Force-sensitive girl, Avitla was trained in the ways of the Jedi and sent to Tython to practise. She met fellow padawans - Jerridan and Mennaus and did their trials together. During their explorations, a Flesh Raider attacked them, wounding Jerridan before being killed. Wanting to take revenge on the Flesh Raiders, Mennaus reminded her not to seek vengeance.
