Marcus Junius Brutus (85 BCE – 42 BCE), also known simply as Brutus, was a politician of the late Roman Republic, and a member of the Roman Brotherhood of Assassins. Most notably, Brutus held a leading role in the assassination conspiracy against the consul Gaius Julius Caesar in 44 BCE. He was also the first known human to discover the Colosseum Vault.
