The Rhoynar are a cultural group of people who often lived in the banks of the river Rhoyne in Essos. They fled to Dorne after a war with the Valyrian Freehold, and made a new home for themselves there under the leadership of their warrior queen, Nymeria. Rhoynar were unusual because they favored men and women equally when it came to inheritances. They also tolerated homosexuality. They worshipped river gods. People who descended from them called themselves "orphans of Greenblood".
