Gerald Zaranec was the cousin of Dylas Rin Theron. He was a wealthy man who lived in the Zaranec mansion in Ravensworth. Dylas took refuge in his home after the Proninist occupation of Remonton and eventually manipulated the weak-willed Gerald into donating large sums of money for his political campaign. Dylas also appointed Gerald as the caretaker of his half-brother Amon Rin Theron but executed him when a group of thugs kidnapped Amon. Although Dylas claimed that Gerald had been the mastermind behind the kidnapping, it was in fact Dylas's ruse to put the blame on Gerald and thus have a justifiable means to take over the wealthy Zaranec estate. Gerald always supported Dylas and didn't realize he was being used for Dylas's schemes.
